Students from United Christian College (Kowloon East) have returned from Singapore after representing Hong Kong on the world stage at the Aramco STEM Racing World Finals 2026 — one of the most prestigious student STEM competitions in the world.
Competing against other elite STEM Racing teams over four high-pressure days, the student team called Quasar made a powerful impression, securing the DHL Fastest Lap Award recording the quickest time of the World Finals at 1.025 seconds and finishing fifth overall of the 91 teams competing at the event. The team achieved an impressive fifth place of 91 teams in the world rankings, cementing their status as one of the top student teams internationally.
Tsang, Team Manager of Quasar reflected on the achievement and said: “Winning the Fastest Lap Award feels incredible. We’re extremely excited and proud to have achieved this as a team. It’s a great recognition of the engineering, teamwork and cooperation that went into developing and refining our car. Everyone supported each other, brought their strengths together and worked hard to achieve the best possible performance.
“For me, this experience has strengthened my ambition to become an engineer and make a meaningful contribution to the world. To future teams and newcomers, my message is simple: never give up, keep pushing yourself and always give your best. With hard work, teamwork and determination, you can achieve amazing things.”
Compatriot team Nori Racing was also recognised for its competition success with nominations for the Sustainability, Sponsorship & Marketing and Enterprise Portfolio Awards.
STEM Racing challenges students to think and perform like a professional Formula 1 team — designing, engineering, and racing a high-performance 1:25 scale model Formula 1 car. Using advanced CAD software and precision manufacturing technology, teams bring their concepts to life to compete on a global stage. Teams are judged across a range of disciplines, including engineering design, innovation, branding, project management, and enterprise, making STEM Racing one of the most comprehensive STEM competitions in the world.
This year’s World Finals title was claimed by Lynx Racing from Saudi Arabia earning the coveted World Champions crown. Second place went to aiXplosion from Germany with Spectrum, also from Germany, completing the podium.
The event brought together some of the brightest young STEM students from around the world, culminating in a spectacular Awards Celebration attended by students, educators, families, and leading figures from Formula 1, the FIA, and industry partners. A total of 23 awards were presented throughout the evening, recognizing excellence in a range of disciplines in this prestigious STEM challenge.
